Here's some interesting details about “Give Kids The World”

"Give Kids the World" is a nonprofit organization that provides cost-free vacations to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The organization was founded by Henri Landwirth, a Holocaust survivor and successful hotelier, in 1986. The story behind the creation of "Give Kids the World" is both inspirational and deeply rooted in Landwirth's personal experiences.

Henri Landwirth was born in Belgium in 1927. During World War II, he and his family were sent to concentration camps by the Nazis. Henri survived the Holocaust, but his parents and many other family members did not. After the war, he moved to the United States, where he began a career in the hotel industry.

In the early 1980s, Landwirth was approached by a wish-granting organization seeking accommodations for a terminally ill child and his family. The hotels in the area were fully booked, and Landwirth was unable to find a place for the family to stay. This experience deeply moved him, and he decided to dedicate himself to creating a place where families with critically ill children could stay and enjoy a vacation without any financial burden.

In 1986, Landwirth opened the Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Florida. The village is a whimsical resort that provides accommodations, meals, and access to various attractions in the Orlando area. It is designed to create a magical and stress-free environment for families facing the challenges of a child's life-threatening illness. The village features specially designed villas, a castle with nightly entertainment, and partnerships with major theme parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld.

Since its founding, Give Kids the World has welcomed thousands of families from around the world, allowing them to create lasting memories together. The organization relies on donations and the support of volunteers to continue its mission of bringing joy and happiness to children facing life-threatening illnesses.

Henri Landwirth passed away in 2018, but his legacy lives on through the work of Give Kids the World, which continues to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families during challenging times.
